One community where Lifeline’s making a difference is Brookmill Court Apartments in Fort Wayne, Indiana. We’re not just bringing services into this community, we’re literally a part of it—the program’s offices are right in the community center!
Lifeline’s Project Incentive includes a preschool and community-wide outreach working to make families stronger, to help children succeed in school, and to help families become more independent.
Preschool:
Building Blocks Preschool operates for Brookmill Court Apartment residents during the school year and 7 weeks during the summer. Ages 3 ½ - 5 years, free of charge.
Community Outreach:
Monthly Women’s Fellowship in the Brookmill Community Room (in collaboration with Westview Alliance Church and the Fort Wayne Housing Authority)
Annual Backpack Roundup and Cookout provides every school-aged child in Brookmill Court Apartments with a backpack filled with school supplies. The cookout serves as a community gathering in which the entire Brookmill Community is served grilled hamburgers, chips, soft drinks and other refreshments. Families also enjoy music, free pony rides, face painting and a variety of additional games and activities.
Annual Christmas Party/Project Wish List complete with Santa and his helpers provides gifts for each child in Brookmill Court Apartments, ages 0-18 years. There are also indoor and outdoor activities for the families and children of all ages.
Free Store makes clothes, toys, and household items available to the Brookmill Community. These items are donated by various churches and individuals outside of the Brookmill Community.
Home-Based Service (another Lifeline program) is provided to various families referred by Project Incentive.
