Lifeline’s Home-Based Services program offers a variety of services to meet the unique needs of each family placed in our care who came to us through the legal system. Each family in our program will be matched with one of our “Family Consultants,” who will come to the client’s home to determine what the family’s needs are. Each week the Family Consultant will work with the family to address their specific needs.
Home-Based Family Centered Therapy: Beyond the services described above, home-based therapy provides additional support for families with greater therapeutic needs such as anger management, coping skills, identifying substance abuse, connecting with mental health resources, providing trauma-informed care, and understanding family dynamics.
Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy: Effective in treating children who have experienced traumatic events and are now experiencing behavioral and/or emotional issues as a result. This is especially relevant given the number of DCS cases that involve some level of childhood trauma such as sexual abuse, witnessing a violent act, or the sudden loss of a parent. While aimed at addressing the after-effects of a child's trauma, this model also involves a combined therapeutic approach for both the children and their parents.
Visitation Facilitation: Professional staff provide supervision, teaching, guidance, and role-modeling to ensure a safe visit between parents, children, and siblings. Visits can occur in the home or in a mutually-agreed upon environment.
Homemaker/Parent Aid Services: Lifeline offers in-home support to help parents build the capacity to fulfill their parent and homemaking responsibilities. Such support or skills can include budgeting, childcare, house cleaning, cooking, time management, social skills, hygiene and problem solving.
Parent Education: Provided in a group setting that focuses on responsible thinking skills for parents. Using this method, parents receive specialized instruction catered to their situation, while also having the opportunity to learn from other's experience and progress in a group setting.
