Lifeline’s Center for Responsible Thinking program (CRT) is taught using creative, interactive curriculum based on fourteen “lies” and “truths”. These concepts have been put into three distinct tracks for children, teenagers, and adults resulting in age-appropriate applications for the entire family.

Middle & High School Children - Lies America Buys:

Designed for teens, a fourteen-lesson program teaching different attitudes or “Lies” that foster irresponsible thinking. Participants are taught appropriate responses based on “Truths” that can be used to make responsible choices, resulting in youth developing healthy decision-making processes. Lessons Include:

  • I Live On the Edge vs. The Thrill Can Kill

  • It’s Not My Fault vs. Tame Your Blame

  • I Can’t Do This vs. Do Your Best, Nothing Less

Elementary Age Children - The Adventures of the Thinking Town Kids:

Designed for elementary-aged children, a thirty-lesson program using different characters that come from Thinking Town—an imaginary place in the mind. Characters act upon the “Lies” and “Truths,” or attitudes and responses, that children learn to evaluate.  Participants are taught appropriate responses, relating the negative and positive responses back to the characters they have learned. Lessons Include:

  • Ned Knowitall vs. Openhead Ned

  • Lou Lazy vs. Cando Lou

  • Brad The Blamer vs. My Bad Brad

Parents and Advocates - What Are These Kids Thinking?:

Designed for parents, a fourteen-lesson program breaking down certain attitudes or “Myths” that come from pressures created when raising children. Participants are taught appropriate responses based on “Rules” that can be used to make responsible choices, resulting in a development of healthy decision making processes that will affect the entire family. Lessons Include:

  • In Order To Be a Cool Parent, I must Get On Their Level vs. A Lot More Is Caught Than Taught

  • I Have It All Under Control vs. Every Good Parent Can Improve

  • I’ve Tried That and It Doesn’t Work vs. If At First You Don’t Succeed, Try, Try Again

Where other “community education” courses focus on a specific problem or issue, CRT teaches participants how to make healthy decisions, which can then be applied to a variety of areas in their lives. Participants learn about the thought patterns that underlie many problems they face—and are challenged  to develop new ideas about how they can achieve their goals. Courses can be customized to the unique needs of each particular group.
